The B-FiT floor integrates seat belts to secure wheelchairs. The floor has rails where swivel seats for other passengers are placed.

The system can be expanded with up to 8 FiT5 swivel seats, offering a highly flexible layout for transporting both wheelchair users and able-bodied passengers.

There are six belts per wheelchair space, which are integrated in the B-FiT floor. Four of these belts are safety belts with a hook, which are meant to secure a wheelchair in the disability van and keep it in place during a journey and in the unthinkable event of an accident.

Touchscreen control – Safe and easy ford transit

Safety+ Safe and easy (Optional)

For extra safety, the B-FiT system can be expanded with the Safety+ option. The Safety+ option comes with a screen that shows whether the swivel seats are in use and whether passengers are using their seat belts. This also applies to the wheelchair user. The screen is placed on the driver's side, where they can see at a glance if all passengers are wearing their seat belts and if it is safe to drive. If the wheelchair passenger releases the seatbelt, the driver will be notified.

Group transport with the Ford Transit

When no wheelchair passenger is using the wheelchair space, the swivel seats can be folded down for other passengers. Each wheelchair space has a maximum of 2 folding seats, for 2 passengers, except for the wheelchair space by the sliding door, where only 1 folding seat can be placed. This provides great flexibility for group transport in the Ford Transit. For example, you can transport 6 able-bodied passengers and 1 wheelchair passenger, or 3 wheelchair passengers and 2 able-bodied passengers.

Safe passenger transport

If the belts that are integrated in the B-FiT floor are not used, the hooks are stored in the floor. This creates a completely flat floor on which passengers are less likely to stumble in the passenger bus. It goes without saying that all the belt systems conform to the latest European safety requirements and have been extensively tested in order to qualify for this.

The same applies to the folding seats and the frames on which they stand, for which tensile tests have been conducted in-house to ensure safety. The results are verified by the RDW, the Dutch National Road Administration. The test results are valid for the entire European Union.

Boarding and alighting

Wheelchair passengers enter the Ford Transit wheelchair van via a wheelchair lift attached to the B-FiT floor at the rear of the Transit. You decide for yourself what type of lift you want to install. B-Style does not make its own lifts, but we can order them for you. The other passengers can enter via the sliding door on the side of the bus.

Personalizing your Transit Wheelchair van

Personalizing your Transit Wheelchair van

There are always four wheelchair spaces, but the number of swivel seats is up to you. You can decide how many you want, with a maximum of seven.

Wheelchair van conversion

Converting a Ford Transit to a wheelchair van couldn't be easier. The floor is delivered to the conversion company ready for use, so there is no cutting or welding involved in conversion of the van for handicap transportation. To eliminate friction, a plastic layer and adhesive are supplied for use between the van and the B-FiT floor. For extra strength, the floor is screwed to the bottom at a number of points. The seats are placed on the rails, and if an air conditioner is present behind the wheel arch, a different seat leg is supplied.
