B-FiT

for Mercedes Sprinter

Extremely large wheelchair van that can safely accommodate up to ten able-bodied passengers or six wheelchair passengers. You can serve a wide range of passengers with the B-FiT Mercedes-Benz Sprinter L3 minibus. This wheelchair van can be used as a taxi van, wheelchair taxi or handicap van by a taxi or transport company. If a wheelchair space is not used, other passengers can sit on the comfortable tip-and-turn seats that are included. In most countries, a bus driving licence is required to drive this bus. The name of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter L3 is confusing, because competitors call this the L4 size.

B-FiT for Mercedes Sprinter L3

B-FiT is a ready-made floor that is laid in the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter L3. Belts to secure wheelchairs are integrated into the B-FiT floor. There are also rails in the floor to which seatbelt columns are fitted to secure the wheelchair passengers and tip-and-turn seats for other passengers.

There are five belts per wheelchair space, which ere integrated in the B-FiT floor. Four of these belts are safety belts with a hook, which are meant to secure a wheelchair in the disability van and keep it in place during a journey and in the unthinkable event of an accident. The adjustable seatbelt column is used to secure the wheelchair passenger. The buckle for that last belt is in the fifth position integrated in the floor.

Safety+ option Safe and easy

For extra safety, you can expand the B-FiT system with the Safety+ option. The Safety+ option comes with a screen that shows you whether tip-and-turn seats are in use and whether passengers are using their seat belts. This also applies to the wheelchair user. The screen is placed at the driver's side, where he can see at a glance whether all passengers are wearing their seat belts and it is safe to drive. If the wheelchair passenger releases the seatbelt, the driver is notified.

The wheelchair passenger always has good visibility through the windows, because the tip-and-turn seats are the only seats in their class to be folded down under the windows. When there is no wheelchair passenger in the wheelchair space, the tip-and-turn seats can be folded down for other passengers. There is a maximum of two folding seats, for two passengers, in each wheelchair space, so you can be extremely flexible with group transport in the Mercedes Sprinter. For example, you can transport nine able-bodied passengers and one wheelchair passenger or four able-bodied passengers and four wheelchair passengers.

Safe passenger transport

If the belts that are integrated in the B-FiT floor are not used, the hooks are stored in the floor. This creates a completely flat floor on which passengers are less likely to stumble in the passenger bus. It goes without saying that all the belt systems conform to the latest European safety requirements and have been extensively tested in order to qualify for this.

The same applies to the folding seats and the frames on which they stand, for which tensile tests have been conducted in-house to ensure safety. The results are verified by the RDW, the Dutch National Road Administration. The test results are valid for the entire European Union.

Boarding and alighting

Wheelchair passengers enter the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter L3 wheelchair van via a wheelchair lift attached to the B-FiT floor at the rear of the Sprinter. You decide for yourself what type of lift you want to install. B-Style does not make its own lifts, but we can order them for you. For the other passengers, there are two options for boarding. When a Sprinter without a sliding door is chosen, B-Style delivers a lowered entry for the passenger door, the B-Open. This is a lowered step for easier entry, which eliminates the front passenger seat. In addition to easy entry, the advantage of this is that there is room for ten tip-and-turn seats. The other option is a Sprinter with sliding door, which has space for nine additional seats. In that case, passengers naturally enter through the sliding door.

Personalizing your Sprinter Wheelchair Van

You decide how many tip-and-turn seats you want, up to a maximum of ten. The seats can be placed next to the windows or in the middle. The number of wheelchair spaces is four or six. You can also choose a panel in the headliner with lighting, a safety hammer and space for extra speakers. As mentioned above, a lowered entry is possible, as well as a wheelchair lift of your choosing.

Wheelchair van conversion

Converting a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter to a wheelchair van couldn't be easier. The floor is delivered to the conversion company ready for use, so there is no cutting or welding involved in conversion of the van for handicap transportation. To eliminate friction, a plastic layer and adhesive are supplied for use between the van and the B-FiT floor. For extra strength, the floor is screwed to the bottom at a number of points. The seats can be placed on the rails.
