B-style has produced a high-quality conversion kit especially for this Ford Connect. We supply this kit to conversion companies around the world that use it to turn the Connect into a comfortable wheelchair accessible vehicle. Because B-style has been converting vehicles in-house for years (since 1973), we know exactly what is needed for a wheelchair conversion van. This means that the company carrying out the wheelchair van conversion can do so easily and that the wheelchair passenger has every convenience, including a comfortable sitting position, easy entry, light operation, a high quality finish and, of course, the B-Active Connect meets all the latest safety requirements.

Take the whole family on the road with the B-Active Grand Tourneo Connect! There is room for five people plus a wheelchair passenger or, alternatively, seven people in total. The latter is made possible by two optional folding seats in the third row. This makes the Ford Connect in combination with the B-Active conversion kit very popular as a disability car for private owners. Because the floor is lowered, there is considerably more interior space for a wheelchair passenger. Getting the wheelchair passenger on board is very easy due to the wheelchair ramp with a gentle incline of just 11 degrees. With the optional gas spring, the wheelchair ramp is even lighter to operate, making the wheelchair van easy to use for everyone.

Looking for a wheelchair taxi for daily, professional use? Then look no further, because the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect is perfect, thanks to the space and high quality B-Active wheelchair conversion. Having performed endurance tests, we can guarantee the quality of all the parts. So you can use the Ford Connect as a wheelchair taxi for many years without any worries. There are many features designed for maximum user-friendliness, like the belts that can be attached to the wheelchair while it is still outside the Connect. An integrated safety feature prevents the wheelchair passenger from rolling backwards on the wheelchair ramp; only upward movement is possible. Super convenient! When driving without a wheelchair passenger, the wheelchair ramp can optionally be folded inwards for more luggage space.

Vehicle specifications

For the B-Active conversion kit to be technically compatible, the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect must meet a number of specifications. For example, the Ford must have a diesel engine and be supplied with the smaller AdBlue tank that Ford developed specifically for wheelchair cars. In addition, the difference between the maximum authorized mass and the kerb weight plus driver must be no more than 550 kg. With a 7-seat Grand Tourneo Connect this is never a problem; you do, however, need to keep this in mind for a 5-seater.

WAV-Conversion kit

B-style, inventor of the wheelchair van, sells the conversion components for the Grand Tourneo Connect as a complete kit to professional conversion companies. Because B-style has, itself, been a conversion company for 44 years, a great wealth of knowledge has been gained about all aspects of conversion, and that knowledge has been put to good use in the development of the kit. The Grand Tourneo Connect can be converted to a wheelchair accessible vehicle in just 26 hours, without the need for any welding. The quality delivered by B-style is also economical, because the installation time is minimized, saving the conversion company money.

Personalization Connect wheelchair van

There are several options for personalizing your Ford Connect wheelchair van. For example, you can opt for high-quality, wear-resistant vinyl on the floor. The sides of the conversion can be fitted with an aluminium strip or ABS plastic cut to size. For extra visibility in the dark, a LED strip is available that automatically lights up when lowering the wheelchair ramp. Operation of the wheelchair ramp can be made easier with a gas spring. There are two versions of the wheelchair ramp itself: one that can be folded inwards in its entirety, so that it can lie horizontally in the Grand Tourneo Connect when no wheelchair passenger is present to provide extra luggage space, and one with a foldable tip for a better view to the rear through the mirror. There is an option to add two folding seats in the third row so that a total of seven able-bodied passengers can fit in the Grand Tourneo Connect, or five seated and one wheelchair passenger.

Installation

To make a Ford Connect suitable for use as a wheelchair vehicle a section is cut out of the floor. B-style supplies a template for this, to ensure the cut-out is exactly the right size. The B-Active kit fits the Grand Tourneo Connect perfectly and results in a lower floor with more space for the wheelchair passenger. Everything needed for the conversion is included, including a new fuel tank (with a larger capacity of 60 litres), wheelchair ramp, seatbelts and all the necessary fasteners.

Paperwork handled by B-style

All the official documentation required for conversion of a Ford Connect to a WAV (wheelchair accessible vehicle) is provided by B-style. This includes the European Type Approval for the complete model range, as well as a second-phase Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for each specific model. The latter is a huge time saver for the conversion company, because it eliminates the need to have each individual vehicle approved prior to registration.
